Demand for labour increases significantly in Switzerland

(sda) The number of job vacancies has increased more in recent months than at any time since 2012. This is according to a press release from recruitment agency Michael Pager. In Eastern Switzerland, there has even been an increase of 62.3 per cent since the beginning of the year. In Central Switzerland, the number of vacancies rose by 48.8 per cent. And in north-western Switzerland, the number of job advertisements has risen by 41.6 per cent this year.

For the months of October and November alone, the number of job advertisements increased by 2.5 per cent across Switzerland. In French-speaking Switzerland, demand for labour rose by 3.4 percent between October and November. In German-speaking Switzerland, the index rose by 2.5 per cent in the same period.

Shortage of skilled labour remains acute
According to Michael Page Director Nicolai Mikkelsen, recruitment processes are currently being shortened in many places due to the high demand for skilled labour and good candidates are being inundated with multiple offers.
In the past two months, employees for facility management, IT security specialists, logistics specialists, electrical engineers and financial controllers were particularly sought after.
