Stena Line's Digital Transformation Journey
Stena Line is the world's leading passenger ferry company with 19 ferry routes, 6 geographical divisions, 39 passenger vessels, 28,000 voyages per year (7 million passengers, 2 million private vehicles and 2 million freight units) in 10 European markets, a turnover of EUR 1.2 billion and 6,000 employees in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Poland, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Stena Line made a major organisational change in September 2016, triggered by the "transformation to digital". As the company's Chief Transformation Officer and member of the Board of Directors, Jari Virtanen has driven and orchestrated the entire change programme towards Stena Line's digital vision, which is to become the world's first cognitive ferry company by making optimal use of technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, robotics and machine learning throughout the organisation.
However, embarking on such a digital-first journey comes with many challenges when it comes to collecting and processing data, and more importantly, the right types of data and variables. In this webinar, we would like to learn more from him about the typical challenges he has encountered along the way.
