The biggest mistake in IT crisis projects?
Hoping for too long that it will resolve itself.
I have seen projects that:
• where months late
• budgets have been massively overspent
• long considered a „problem project“
And still, things continued as before.
Why?
Because nobody wanted to make the unpleasant decisions.
In a specific case, we had to:
• completely restructure
• change roles and responsibilities
• deliberately stop parts of the project
That wasn't easy.
But necessary.
Result:
The project could be saved.
My experience:
The sooner you look honestly, the greater the chance of success.
Waiting, almost always makes it more expensive.
And rarely better.
